Sander Reuland - Design Engineer

Working as a Design Engineer at Fokker Elmo is different every day. The daily work is mostly done on-site at an aircraft manufacturer outside of the Netherlands. As an electrical harness integrator you’re connecting all aircraft systems, so you’re dealing with all kinds of other suppliers as well. You’re working in an international community, so you’re among different cultures, which is also interesting on a social aspect.

Every day you have to puzzle, fight for your design and compromise; Think outside of the box to solve complex installations, but respect the requirements from authorities and manufacturing. But you’re not alone, there’s a very good team spirit. At the customer you’re part of a (mostly Dutch) team that helps each other out, and stands for Fokker Elmo’s reputation.

You’re working with the latest technologies, so you cannot sit back and relax, relying on your work experience; you have to keep up with new developments. You’re working on an aircraft that only exist in the digital world; the best part is being witness of your aircraft’s First Flight!

I like my job because it’s international, with interesting challenges every day. Do I need to say more?

Ido Brandalise - Manufacturing Engineer

After my graduation in Aerospace Technology in 2003, I started as a Designer. Since June 2006 I’m working for Fokker Elmo B.V. as a Manufacturing Engineer.

Because of a new Airbus program I very soon moved to England. There we lived in Bristol; a very nice city with a lot of students and a lovely harbour and because of all that lively with a nice atmosphere..

I was working on site at Airbus and my main task was changing the airbus production process to the Fokker Elmo production process. Before moving to England I was involved, together with Airbus “trainers”, in setting up the production line in China.

The nice thing about Fokker Elmo is, that you have a lot of responsibility and you must often rely on your own judgement. Yet, you are never alone, for there is always colleague who can help you out.

Fokker Elmo is a growing company with challenging assignments and I’m curious what my new assignment will be.

Jochen de Vet - Project Engineer

As project engineer at the Innovation and IT department I work on dynamic and varied projects. This department holds a variety of disciplines, each of them contributes their expertise to support and optimize our core business. I am primarily concerned with process optimization- and innovation projects. As project engineer I work on new identified organizational needs and explore ways in which the Innovation and IT department can contribute to the solution. I am also the contact and responsible for the entire project, from initiation to final evaluation. It really appeals to me that you can address things in your own structured way. The focus lies on independence and commitment. In return Fokker Elmo invests in your future. There are enough possibilities to further develop your skills with among others training and education, both internally and externally. I have for example additional tasks such as supervising trainees, validating business processes and further professionalize the different facets within project management. Working at Fokker Elmo means you are working in the aviation and aerospace industry. The work, therefore, remain challenging, interesting and fascinating. We also have to adhere to very strict international regulations on issues such as security and reliability. Therefore I keep learning every day and I still enjoy working here.
